El Al received its Boeing 787 this morning from the Boeing plant in Seattle and is the 16th Dreamliner of the Israeli airline.

The plane landed in Israel after a long flight from Seattle in the western United States and will begin flying today on its first commercial flight. The first passengers to be built from it are those flying on EL AL's noon flight to Dubai.

Later this week, the new plane will fly to Paris, London, Bangkok, Johannesburg and New York, so thousands of passengers will fly in the coming days on a plane that left Boeing's factory in the United States just tonight.

Long-standing partnership

The plane will be called "Nof HaGalil", since each of EL AL's planes is named after a different city in Israel. The ceremony held in honor of the plane at Ben Gurion Airport was attended by, among others, El Al CEO Dina Ben Tal Ganencia, Nof Hagalil Mayor Ronen Plot, Boeing Israel President Ido Nehushtan and El Al owner Kenny Rosenberg and director Darryl Hagler.

El Al CEO Dina Ben-Tal Ganencia said at the event: "Every time we receive a new Dreamliner next to us, there is excitement and a festive feeling in the air, and today the excitement is twofold because this is the first El Al flight to fly to Israel with sustainable SAF fuel."

"This is a combination of two significant areas that make up our strategic plan and which we deal with on a daily basis – expanding and rejuvenating El Al's aircraft fleet, and expanding our work in the field of environmental protection," she added.

"Our longstanding partnership with Boeing allows us to bring our customers the best flight experience, and I am very grateful to them for that."

Ben-Tal Ganencia added, "Just like El Al, the Nof Hagalil municipality announced its rebranding several years ago, and since then it has flown to heights. We are happy to fly with you and carry the name of your city wherever we are in the world."
