Although he has a contract with Boca until December 2024, Sebastián Villa reappeared in the last hours training at Unión Deportiva Lanzarote, a modest team in the Third Division of Spain.
The 27-year-old Colombian striker, sentenced to two years and one month in prison for gender violence and in the run-up to another trial against him that can leave him in jail and his future in football is unknown.
After being convicted, the Board of Directors of Boca decided to remove him from the professional squad although he respected Villa's labor rights, allowing him to train at the club's facilities waiting for any transfer or offer that never came.
In that back and forth, Villa decided to intimate the institution and declare himself a "free" footballer, starting a conflict that should not be resolved in Courts. Meanwhile, Villa asked for permission before the Justice to leave the country and reappeared in Spain, training with Lanzarote, founded in 1970 and without remarkable achievements throughout its history in the lower categories of Spanish football.

Since June of this year, the coach of the Rojillos, as they are called, is Leonel Gancedo, an old acquaintance of Argentine football, emerged in Argentinos Juniors and with a great career in River Plate, which earned him to extend his career in Europe.

The appearance of the Colombian training with a new club generated a lot of commotion on social networks – taking into account the judicial conflict with Boca and his conviction for gender violence – so Pipa had to go out and explain why he decided to incorporate Villa into the practices of his team.
"We are an amateur club and I have good vibes with the player's representatives, he came for the weekend to the island and we offered him to move a little with the team," Pipa clarified in a local media.
And he extended his concepts commenting on Villa's post on Instagram: "It is a privilege to be able to receive a footballer of world hierarchy, it will always be a pleasure to embrace and help all people, as Our Lord Jesus Christ told us."
Villa, in addition to training, also showed himself in his networks enjoying the beaches of the Canary Islands, waiting for his procedural situation to be defined in Argentina, where he should return to face a new trial.
