Twenty people were killed Sunday in Burkina Faso during an attack by suspected jihadists in Nohao, near the city of Bittou, in the Centre-East region bordering Togo, AFP learned Monday (August 7th) from security and local sources.

The attack left about twenty dead, mainly traders, "said a security source. A shopkeeper reports a balance sheet of "25 people killed" and "more than fifteen transport trucks looted and then burned by terrorists".
Another merchant reported a "dozen wounded", evacuated to Bittou, where traders were returning after going to the market of Cinkansé, a commercial town bordering Togo.

Since 2015, Burkina Faso has been caught in a spiral of violence perpetrated by jihadist groups affiliated with the Islamic State and Al-Qaeda.
