A 37-year-old man was indicted for murder and placed in provisional detention on July 26, suspected of killing a woman at her home in early July in Nanterre (Hauts-de-Seine), said Monday, August 7, the prosecutor's office of the city requested by AFP, confirming information from the Parisian.
«
The autopsy revealed that the victim had been strangled," the prosecution said. According to a police source, an 11-year-old boy had called for help on the morning of Saturday, July 1 after discovering his mother, aged 38, unresponsive in the kitchen of the apartment.
Heard by investigators, the child had said that his mother had spent the evening with a friend, whom he knew only by his first name, in the apartment belonging to his maternal grandmother, added the police source.
A relationship "complicated" to "determine"
According to the prosecutor's office, the victim and the suspect knew each other, and did not live together. The son was entrusted to his father, separated from the victim, the source added.
Another police source said the relationship between the victim and the suspect was "complicated" and remained to be determined, as were the circumstances of the facts. The man, heard as a witness at first before being arrested, "recognized the strangulation during his custody," added this police source.
