Electrical incident: after four days of closure, the prefecture of Essonne reopens to the public this Friday

"The resupply of electricity to all the buildings of the prefecture continues," said this Thursday evening, the prefecture of Essonne in a statement. Since Monday, an electrical incident has strongly disrupted the activity of the institution. At about 10 a.m. that day, smoke from a malfunction on an electrical cabinet was found in one of the buildings and all staff were evacuated. Then, less than 24 hours later, a second release of smoke was observed, the electricity was then cut again, paralyzing all services and also impacting the departmental council, a building next to the prefecture, and the judicial court. It is impossible for the prefecture to welcome the public in these conditions.

Generators installed

Since Monday, specialized teams were mobilized on site. As they intervened, some parts of the building were able to regain electricity. In addition, as of Thursday, alternative solutions were found to allow to receive users who had made an appointment. Several generators have been installed, "pending more substantial repairs on the electrical network," the statement said.

According to the latest information communicated, the reception of the public will resume fully from this Friday, August 11, to ensure the appointments of the coming days. Appointments that could not be completed due to the incident continue to be rescheduled "as soon as possible."
