It went into action when most employees offer themselves a little respite. Suspected of theft in several companies, a 28-year-old man was arrested at his home on Thursday morning by police officers from the Neuilly police station. The individual took advantage of lunch breaks to break into companies and steal laptops.
It was between the end of June and the beginning of August that the man, originally from Seine-et-Marne, established his playground in Neuilly-sur-Seine where many company headquarters are installed. Offices in short, in which the thief took care to enter without committing the slightest break-in.
Trapped by CCTV
"He managed to slip in discreetly when people left for lunch," says a police source. With the same modus operandi, he visited at least 4 different companies from which he took 17 laptops. » Computers stolen from the offices of business consulting firms or the headquarters of renowned companies. Companies where one could imagine a certain level of security, but where the thief seems to have slipped in without difficulty. "He is a professional of the genre, says the same source. He is known to the police, especially for acts of the same nature. »
Professional or not, the man was trapped by the images of the CCTV cameras that monitored the entrances of these different companies. Images that the police of Neuilly have peeled for long hours, until isolating a face, then associating a name and an address to this face. And it is at this address that the police officers went to arrest him, very early, this Thursday morning. Referred at the end of his custody, the alleged laptop looter will have to explain his actions this Friday, in immediate appearance, before the criminal court of Nanterre.
