The starting signal has been given: Work on the Labergraben Bridge in Oberammergau has begun. They are expected to run until the end of October.
Oberammergau – The barrier beacons are in place, debris is lying around, some of them are thick chunks. Excavators do their job. At the southern end of Oberammergau, work on the surgical procedure on the Labergraben Bridge began on time. For about three to four months, the commissioned company Porr from Kematen in Tyrol works in the area on Ettaler Straße. This is announced by the head of the building authority, Bernd Sedlmaier. The building is expected to be back in a 1a condition by the end of October or beginning of November.
The bridge near the Eisenhower Museum doesn't necessarily stand out. Many road users don't even notice them. But she has infirmities. The age – around 40 to 50 years – is noticeable. As early as 2021, Sedlmaier had announced that the structure would have to be upgraded because, among other things, the pavement was leaking and water was penetrating. In order to preserve the structure "permanently, appropriate renovation work is necessary, mainly on the bridge superstructure," explains the head of the building authority. The extent had resulted from the damage patterns during the regular bridge inspection.
Traffic light circuit set up
Accordingly, the measure has already been planned in the budget discussions. The cost estimate shows that although it is not a mammoth task, it is still a costly affair. There was talk of around 600,000 euros. Money, but one that prevents the progressive decay of the Labergraben Bridge.
The procedure is similar to the work on the Kreislaine Bridge, which the municipality had whipped into shape in 2021. The concrete structure as a whole will be renovated, but mainly the roadway slab with waterproofing. Among other things, the side bridge caps will be renewed. In the course of the measure, the construction company is also tackling the intersection area to the Rainenbichl. The roadway area and sidewalks will be structurally adapted.
Both Ettaler Straße and the junction area Am Rainenbichl are affected by the project. Which has an impact on traffic management. For the most part, the work has to be carried out with a half-way closure of Ettaler Straße with the help of a traffic light system. Turning in the direction of Am Rainenbichl will therefore only be possible to a limited extent at times.
