Dorfen is in a celebratory mood. The folk festival has just begun, now it will be celebrated for ten days. On Saturday, 700 participants are expected to take part in the Oktoberfest.

Dorfen – And once again there is a big celebration in Dorfen, which looks back on 1250 years this year: "Ozapft is", it was said on Friday evening in the rustic and comfortably decorated festival hall. Mayor Heinz Grunder traditionally tapped the first Banzen of the tasty festival beer, this year for the first time from Bräu z'Loh. Young and old can now expect a colourful entertainment programme at the Dorfener Wiesn until Sunday, 20 August, under the motto "Tradition meets modernity". Outside, there are numerous stalls and several rides.

"Ois is o'gricht, now it's time for the guests," said the Festwirt quartet Ernst Hennel, Tobi Maier, Michael Gronegger and Franz Egerndorfer during a visit to the local newspaper before the official start in the early evening. Anita Feckl, head of the city administration's folk festival, was able to report from the food inspection department that Dorfen had a "model kitchen". Tobi Maier said: "It's finally starting." And Grundner was looking forward to "the Oktoberfest season, which is part of the 1250-year festival program: Now we are celebrating ten beautiful days of folk festival!"

On Saturday, the traditional Oktoberfest procession from the city centre to the Volksfestplatz follows. More than 700 participants have registered, including the town band, four carriages with the festival hosts and celebrities as well as over 20 club delegations and waitresses. After a free beer bar from 16 p.m. at the Unterer Markt, the procession then sets off at 17 p.m. across Johannisplatz. pre
