"So that it runs in the summer": In a series, our newspaper portrays people who make sure that things run for us in the summer. Today: Michael Söldner - junior boss of the Autohof Söldner in Wolfratshausen.
Wolfratshausen – They help when nothing is really going on: The employees of the Söldner truck stop in the Wolfratshausen industrial park have already saved many a holiday trip. If a tourist is stranded in the region with his vehicle, the country from which he comes is of secondary importance.
Autohof Söldner has already saved many a holiday trip - language hurdles quickly overcome
"For us, the only thing that matters is where the vehicle with the breakdown is," says junior boss Michael Söldner. "Then we first bring people and cars to us and take care of both." This means that the vehicle occupants are provided with drinks and, if desired, food, while their car is ideally quickly made ready to go again in the workshop.
Language barriers are quickly overcome, thanks to the mercenary employees who have contacts all over the world. "Serbian-Croatian, Hungarian, Polish, English," says the junior boss, listing a few translation options. "And if all else fails, you can get an interpreter on the phone through the insurance company."

During the forced stopover, mercenaries make sure that vacationers do not get bored. They give advice on what to do while waiting for the damage to be repaired. Depending on your age, the tips range from a visit to the fairytale forest, a visit to the old town, hikes in the surrounding area and excursions. "We also provide a rental car for this."

If the damage is so significant that the mechanics have to add a second working day, the injured parties will be shown overnight accommodation on request. "We are, so to speak, a towing company, a workshop, a tour guide and an office all in one," says Michael Söldner with a grin.

It has already happened that a car had to be delivered to the holiday destination. "After consultation with the insurance company, I took it to Garmisch by tow truck and took the rental vehicle back piggyback."
For the most part, it is small things that can be fixed quickly: a flat tire or jump start because the battery has given up its ghost. Although: once mercenary "was called to a Mazda with engine failure. It turned out that it already had some previous damage and that the repair was no longer economically worthwhile." The car was thrown into the scrap press, and the occupants continued their journey home by public transport.
Autohof Söldner: Some vehicles have an adventurous history behind them
It's not just defective cars that call the specialists onto the scene. "We also tow bicycles and repair them," says the junior boss. Many insurance companies offer this service for e-bikes and cargo bikes. "We take care of practically everything up to the 7.5-tonne truck."
Sometimes vehicles that have an adventurous history behind them find their way to the truck stop at the foot of the motorway feeder road. "An Audi Q7 – it was stolen in Berlin and flashed twice on the way to Lake Garda. So you quickly knew where he was. However, it was stolen again shortly afterwards." When the police were finally able to secure the Audi, it ended up in Wolfratshausen. "We are the reception centre for Württembergische Versicherung."
Similarly, the story of another Q7. A Russian family was on their way to vacation when police stopped them. They had not paid the leasing rates for the Audi, the car was confiscated and also ended up with mercenaries. "There's hardly anything you don't experience," says the junior boss. "You really don't get bored." .sh
