In recent days, Hezbollah operatives have permanently stopped manning the tent they had erected in Israeli territory opposite the Har Dov sector, about 24 meters from the Lebanese-Israeli border. This is in contrast to the policy in recent months, according to which the Shiite organization manned the tent 7/<> and held guards of armed operatives around it.

At the beginning of the affair, Hezbollah operatives erected two tents in Israeli territory. A few weeks later, the IDF completed the measurements and determined that this was an action contrary to the agreements and that the tents had been erected in Israeli territory in violation of sovereignty. Messages in this spirit were conveyed to the Lebanese government through UNIFIL forces, meetings with the Lebanese army and UN officials.Northern Command Commander Maj. Gen. Uri Gordin recommended methods of action vis-à-vis Hezbollah operatives to the point of deteriorating into battle days, but his recommendation was not accepted and it was decided to take action on the political level.

About a month ago, it was first published in Walla! Because in the background of the pressure, Hezbollah folded one of the tents and moved it to Lebanese territory. Now, it turned out that they had stopped manning the tent regularly. In Israel, it is believed that the reasons for this are the harsh criticism from Israel; reinforcing IDF forces along the border; and threats in the defense establishment, including from Defense Minister Yoav Galant.

Meanwhile, next week the head of the IDF's Foreign Relations Division, Brig. Gen. Efi Dufferin, will fly to the United States to discuss with his counterparts in the Defense Ministry and the US Army the renewal of the mandate for UNIFIL forces in Lebanon. It is believed in Israel that Brigadier General Dufferin is expected to express his displeasure at UNIFIL's standing by in everything related to the violation of Israeli sovereignty by erecting tents and other actions. The defense establishment sees great importance in the renewal of the mandate and in the continued activity of UNIFIL forces as a mediator and balancing factor in southern Lebanon.

This coming Monday, Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah is expected to give a speech marking the 17th anniversary of the Second Lebanon War.
