Underpass in Weßling continues to

2023-08-11T16:36:18.257Z

Highlights: Weßling's main road has been reopened to traffic in both directions after a four-month closure due to bridge renewal. Work is now underway on the southern part of the Meilinger Weg. This is now being expanded and is currently difficult or impossible to drive on for cyclists and is officially closed. The necessary diversion, however, has not yet been signposted, as Florian Zarbo, CEO of the Weßlinger municipal company, admitted yesterday. Zarbo hopes that the diversion will be in place by the weekend.

The bridge of the Weßlinger Hauptstraße over the Steinebacher Weg is open at the top, but not at the bottom. Work is now underway on Meilinger Weg. A detour for cyclists is still being signposted.

Weßling – Weßling's main road has been reopened to traffic in both directions after a four-month closure due to bridge renewal. Immediately afterwards, work began on the southern part of the Meilinger Weg. This is now being expanded and is currently rather difficult or impossible to drive on for cyclists and is officially closed.

The necessary diversion, however, has not yet been signposted, as Florian Zarbo, CEO of the Weßlinger municipal company, admitted yesterday. The construction company had already been commissioned in July, but the order was obviously lost in the great noise. Cyclists have therefore been illegally scrambling over the construction site to the cycle path to Seefeld in the past few days. In the future, however, they will be led back to the cycle path on the other side of the main road via Max-Dörmer-Weg, Steinebacher Weg and a specially set up makeshift lane that branches off to the south shortly before the underpass. Zarbo hopes that the diversion will be in place by the weekend.

The passage through the renewed underpass of Steinebacher Weg is still closed. This will be expanded for pedestrian and bicycle traffic, and the car lane will be narrower. As Zarbo told the Starnberger Merkur, this final work should be completed by the end of August. The background to this is that the schoolchildren can then "get used to their new way to school and practice it" before the start of the school year on 12 September. (hvp)
