Bernhard Brink has been in the pop music business for 50 years - and can look back on great successes. However, he doesn't think much of the young pop talent.
Nordhorn – Bernhard Brink (71) has become an integral part of the pop scene. He has been one of the big names in the industry for around 50 years and is a guest at events and shows such as "Immer wieder sonntags" or "Die Giovanni Zarrella Show". But in the meantime, many up-and-coming artists are also part of the party - not all of them can convince the musician. The reason: Many newcomers apparently overestimate themselves. It is precisely against such artists that Bernhard Brink is now taking a sweeping stance.
Too big an ego: That's what bothers Bernhard Brink about the pop newcomers
The fact that young talents want to gain a foothold in the pop music industry – the 71-year-old has nothing against that. Quite the opposite: Bernhard Brink admires how musicians fight for their careers today. "I don't want to have to start as a singer anymore and I'm really happy that I've had success, a record deal and performances for five decades to this day," he emphasizes to the Südkurier. And why? In the past, there was not only more time to work on new songs and albums and to develop – the TV scene was also more manageable.
What particularly bothers the presenters these days, however, is the behavior of many up-and-coming artists. "Today, a lot of young people come along and think they're stars, even though they haven't achieved anything and hardly anyone knows them," he says. He, on the other hand, has learned a lot from his colleagues. Jürgen Marcus (†69), Peter Alexander (†84) or (†80) were his role models in many respects. For Bernhard Brink, this is part of it and what many musicians lack: "Diligence, ambition, the will to fight, authenticity, talent, the willingness to learn by doing and a stable environment."
Is Bernhard Brink planning to end his career?
In business for 50 years – but no end in sight. As Bernhard Brink has now revealed, he can imagine still being on stage at the age of 80. "It depends on whether I'm still healthy and fit. This is absolutely the case at the moment," he stresses. In his private life, the singer plays tennis and works out in the gym. He has been married to his wife Ute Brink since 1987.

Career springboard? This is what the TV star thinks of casting and talent shows
TV shows, which are supposed to make it easier to start your music career, are now the order of the day. "Deutschland sucht den Superstar" has been running on RTL for 20 years now. Even Florian Silbereisen (42) supported the jury of the show, thanks to which pop star Beatrice Egli (35) also became famous. Bernhard Brink also enjoys the performances of the talents on DSDS or "The Voice". However, success is not guaranteed. "I think it's unfortunate that the majority of them disappear from the scene very quickly," explains the Lower Saxon.

The fact that the DSDS starlets can definitely take off in the pop music industry has been proven by Beatrice Egli or Ramon Roselly (29) but also Linda Teodosiu (31). The singer even works with Helene Fischer (39). "It's really crass, an extremely big pressure, because she's often very perfectionist," Linda told RTL. But it is precisely these attributes that Bernhard Brink particularly appreciates about pop icon Helene Fischer. Sources used:Südkurier, RTL
