Seven people were injured at Europa-Park in Rust near Freiburg on Monday. Scaffolding has collapsed at a tower jumping attraction.
Update from August 15, 2023, 17:25 p.m.: At Europa-Park in Rust, several people were injured in the collapse of a diving tower scaffolding on Monday, including acrobats who were on the scaffolding or the diving tower. Two of the injured artists are still in hospital on Tuesday, but they are not seriously injured, according to police. A visitor to the amusement park filmed the accident and posted the video on Tiktok. The scenes show the moment of misfortune: several people fall from the collapsing scaffolding into the water, parts of the scenery then swim around in the swimming pool, some of the acrobats run towards each other in the shallower water and support each other.
As part of the show "Retorno dos Piratas", the athletes jumped several times a day from a height of up to 25 meters into the 3.20 meter deep basin and showed extreme and synchronized jumps. According to the park, the injured acrobats are women aged 18, 22 and 29, as well as a 24-year-old and a 50-year-old man. "One person was in the swimming pool, another on the diving tower and the rest of the artists in the small castle with the diving boards," the spokesman said. According to a park spokesman, the show "Retorno dos Piratas" will no longer be shown.
Update from August 15, 2023, 13:40 p.m.: Two injured acrobats remained in hospital after an accident at a tower jumping attraction at Europa-Park in Rust near Freiburg on Tuesday. "We do not expect more serious injuries," said a police spokeswoman. A total of seven people were injured on Monday when a pool of water ruptured and diving towers attached to it collapsed.
According to the largest amusement park in Germany, five artists are among the injured: women aged 18, 22 and 29, as well as a 24-year-old and a 50-year-old man. Four of them had come to the hospital on Monday. In addition, two visitors suffered minor injuries, according to the information.
The police spokeswoman said that the accident was still being investigated. For this purpose, witnesses would be interviewed and the material would be examined. It still needs to be clarified whether an expert will be consulted.

Because there was a lack of stability after the water escaped, the scaffolding collapsed. Various parts of the scenery then floated in the basin of the water ride.
