1. FC Magdeburg has taken a promotion place in the 2nd Bundesliga, at least temporarily. On matchday five, coach Christian Titz's team beat Hertha BSC 6-4 (2-3) in a racy match. In front of 26,872 spectators at the MDCC Arena, Silas Gnaka (7') and Luca Schuler (37'), Jason Ceka (49'), Leon Bell Bell (58') scored the goals.
Magdeburg – ) as well as Mohammed El-Hankouri (68') and substitute Ahmet Arslan scored the goals for the hosts in injury time. Fabian Reese (2nd minute), Marten Winkler (22nd) and Haris Tabakovic (42nd/55th) had given the visitors the lead four times.
