Before Meghan Markle hung up her acting career for Prince Harry, the British royal family got involved in "Suits". Rachel Zane was not allowed to say a very specific sentence.
Los Angeles – When Meghan Markle (42) met Prince Harry (2016) in 38, she had been one of the leading actresses in the legal series "Suits" for five years in the role of Rachel Zane. The connection to the Royal Family quickly proved to be problematic for the makers of the hit series, because apparently the British royal family wanted to influence the scripts, as "Suits" creator and producer Aaron Korsh (56) now reveals in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
Meghan Markle at "Suits": With this word, the palace applied the red pencil
At first, the enthusiasm about Meghan Markle's relationship with Prince Harry was still great. But then the British royal family began to get involved. "It wasn't a lot of things, but a few things we wanted to do and couldn't do, and that was a little irritating," Aaron Korsh confesses to The Hollywood Reporter. Prince Harry had also indicated in his memoir "Spare" that his family background caused problems for the "Suits" team.
"The screenwriters were frustrated because the palace's communications department often forced them to change lines of dialogue, as well as what their character would do or how they would behave," Prince Harry writes in his biography. Aaron Korsh can still remember one particular case exactly. In one scene, Meghan was supposed to use the word "poppycock" in her role as Rachel Zane, which means "nonsense" or "papperlapapp". The term was particularly close to Korsh's heart, as his wife's family often used the word.
As a nod to my in-laws, we had her [Rachel] say, 'My family would say poppycock.' And the Royal Family didn't want her to say that. They didn't want to put the word 'poppycock' in her mouth (...) So we had to use 'bullshit' instead of 'poppycock,' and I didn't like it because I had told my in-laws that [poppycock] was in the show.

Objection, Your Honor: Royal Family wanted to protect Meghan Markle from embarrassing videos
Korsh can only speculate about the reasons, but suspects that the palace wanted to protect Meghan Markle with the action. Since the second part of the word "cock" also means "penis", it is said to have avoided "people cutting things together in which she says 'cock,'" according to the "Suits" creator. "I had a certain amount of compassion because I didn't want anyone to do that to her either. And here's the thing: I didn't think anyone would really do that, but you never know. There are crazy people."

When Meghan Markle and Prince Harry announced their engagement in November 2017, Meghan also announced her exit from "Suits" after the end of the seventh season. "It was a difficult moment for her because she loved this series," Harry recalls in his memoirs. After retiring from the royal family and moving to California, Meghan Markle could theoretically revive her acting career, but at the moment the Duchess of Sussex seems to want to celebrate her comeback on social media – a mysterious Meghan account is currently going through the roof on Instagram.
