If you win a game like this, you can achieve a lot. At 1. FC Magdeburg, pride is palpable about the historic 6:4 against Hertha. But is there perhaps even more to it?

Magdeburg - After the ten-goal spectacle and the jump to second place, Leon Bell Bell was not enticed. 1. FC Magdeburg a candidate for promotion in the 2nd Bundesliga? The question does not yet arise for the attacker. "We're at the beginning of the season, it's still very early. We're happy that it's working out well now, that we've gotten off to a good start and we want to keep going. We're not here now and say we want to get promoted, we'll take it game by game," said the professional after the 6-4 (2-3) win against Hertha BSC in response to the somewhat provocative question.

His colleague Luca Schuler was no less skilful in his verbal evasion: "The key to success is that the things we set out to do work," he said. Against the relegated Berlin Bundesliga team, a lot worked for Magdeburg up front and not everything at the back. "We didn't have a good day with the way we defended the goals," said coach Christian Titz.

But: As the first second division team, they were able to win a game despite four deficits. Schuler had no doubt about that. "After every deficit, it was only a matter of time before we came back," said the 24-year-old attacker. "Conceding four goals, that's not so good, but in the end the three points are there and that's the most important thing," Bell summed up the curious course of the game. Titz, of course, praised the "enormous will".

It had started pretty badly. Fabian Reese (2nd minute) had given Hertha an early lead. Marten Winkler (22nd) and Haris Tabakovic (42nd/55th) caused further Magdeburg deficits. But Silas Gnaka (7') and Schuler (37'), Jason Ceka (49'), Bell Bell (58') as well as Mohammed El-Hankouri (68') and substitute Ahmet Arslan in injury time repeatedly and finally turned the tide.

As a result of the victory, the still undefeated Magdeburgers take second place behind Holstein Kiel, at least temporarily, with eleven points. After the international break, the game continues on 16 September (20:30 CET) with a visit to FC Schalke 04, who have been relegated from the Bundesliga. Dpa
