Over the past week, the United States transferred armored vehicles to the Palestinian Authority, as part of the training and force buildup processes of the Palestinian security forces operating in Judea, Samaria and the Jordan Valley – and with the approval of the Israeli government and the IDF.
Because the US administration, in coordination with Israeli governments, has been supporting the Palestinian Authority and the Palestinian Authority's security apparatuses for more than two decades through budgets, training, exercises (mostly carried out in Jordan), weapons, protective equipment, and vehicles. In this case, the US administration decided to transfer about ten US-funded armored vehicles from Jordan to Judea and Samaria via the Allenby crossing – in coordination and approval of the Israeli government and the IDF, and without reservations from the Israeli defense establishment. The armored vehicles that were transferred are effective against small arms fire, Molotov cocktails and stones.

The sources also said that since Operation Bayit Vagan, the Palestinian security forces throughout Judea and Samaria had been reinforced in order to strengthen law and order in the region. Among the activities they carry out: collecting weapons (including IEDs and explosives), arresting armed operatives, and seizing terrorist funds, especially Hamas, Islamic Jihad and Popular Front operatives. The sources stressed that the PA apparatuses refrain from operating in the Jenin refugee camps, Nur a-Shams near Tulkarm, and in the Kasbah in Nablus.
A spokesperson for the Office of the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories did not respond to a request for comment.
