Sophia Thomalla has hosted the reality show "Are You The One?" on RTL since 2021. Although she is the host, she apparently also has a lot of influence on the rules of the dome show.
Paros – In the reality show "Are You the One – Reality Stars in Love", twenty singles are each supposed to find their "perfect match". This is determined beforehand by psychologists. If the candidates choose the right one, the group will win prize money of 200,000 euros. Berlin-based Sophia Thomalla (33) has been hosting the dome show as a presenter for four seasons. But she also likes to intervene directly in the rules of the show, as she now told in an interview with the "Bild" newspaper.

"I like to fool them and change the rules. Let me come up with penalties if they don't parry the way I want them to," she said in the conversation.
What she likes best about her job, however, is the "fool's freedom that the broadcaster RTL" gives her through the show. In the interview, she also criticized "the attempts at repression on German television." According to Thomalla, these "unfortunately rose to the unbearably exorbitant". She sees what she is allowed to do there as a "high good".

For this reason, she has already reduced the prize money for the participants. Of the 200,000 euros that the winning couple is actually allowed to take home, she cut 20,000 euros. Thomalla was of the opinion that the candidates had simply not made enough effort.

The 33-year-old was particularly annoyed "by the fact that at the beginning they thought they didn't have to put in any effort. According to the motto: We're already reality stars, then we'll bob our way around here. Not with me. That's why I cut the coal." Thomalla even believes that some of the reality stars just want to raise awareness of their social media profiles and are not looking for true love.
