Described as a particularly quiet aircraft, the Velis Electro, the world's first electric aircraft, certified by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) since 2020, keeps its promise. On the small dirt runway of the Chavenay aerodrome (Yvelines), the two-seater of the Slovenian manufacturer Pipistrel makes no more noise than a kitchen mixer. Enough to reconcile aviation enthusiasts and local residents, who regularly denounce the noise pollution caused by the proximity of an aerodrome. But this is not its only quality.
This electrically propelled cuckoo does not produce greenhouse gases. Capable of flying at a speed of 170 km/h, the Velis Electro has an autonomy of one hour and ten, allowing an effective flight of forty-five minutes. Its charging time on the terminal is thirty minutes to go from 30% to 80% battery. As for its total recharge cost, it is 7 to 8 euros on average, unbeatable compared to a thermal aircraft of the same type
