A couple from northern Israel who have been married for 17 years, have three children and both hold senior positions have found themselves in a real crisis. Maariv Online reported that for the past ten years, their extended family, mainly the husband's brothers and sisters, used to celebrate Rosh Hashanah together when each would contribute his share in a fair distribution and together create a satisfying and delicious holiday meal.

The woman, through attorney Sarine Solan, claimed that this year she decided she was not ready to meet the task shared between her and her husband's two sisters. "The division was very clear, but this time I decided I couldn't handle it," she explained, clarifying to her husband a few months ago that if he didn't buy a new oven with which she could cook and bake, she wouldn't be up to the holiday task.

"My husband chose to fix the oven again and again, but each time it came back and broke down and so it went on for about two months," she said. Two weeks ago, the woman told her husband that she would not prepare what she promised this year and would instead purchase ready-made food. "Let your sisters cook. They have a good stove," she told a husband who was outraged and claimed it was inconceivable that he would buy food ready for the holiday. "It's something that's transparent and can't be hidden," he said. The woman reminded her husband that he had committed to buying a new stove so she could cook, but he 'dragged' the decision.

Last weekend he finally purchased a new stove, but then it turned out that his delivery date was set for two days before the holiday. "It took him a while and two days before the holiday I'm not going to stand in the kitchen when we have a new school year and little kids on our heads," the woman said.

The husband begged her to cook for the holiday dinner, but his wife insisted that she would not have time to do so. Following this, the husband announced that this incident and several others that preceded him in other matters made him disgusted with her and demanded a divorce. The woman responded: "If that's what he wants, we'll go for it."

As is customary in such cases, the couple was sent to settle a dispute, but according to Solan, "The food is just an excuse for an improper relationship. It seems that the couple will meet with the Rabbinate."
