In an interview with Al-Arabiya TV, Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farrakhan sent a thick hint to Israel on Monday evening, amid reports on a request from the United States to halt discussions on normalization with Jerusalem.

"We aim to bring talk of a two-state solution back to the forefront. There is no place for a solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict except by establishing an independent Palestinian state," the Saudi official said.

The Saudi prince's remarks came after a meeting of foreign ministers from Arab countries to discuss the "Middle East peace process" on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York. In this context, bin Farrakhan told Saudi TV: "We are in complete coordination with the brothers in Palestine to reflect their positions at this conference to revive the peace process."

He added that "the solution of the Palestinian issue supports the stability of the region and the world," stressing that "hope must be revived in order to emerge from the worsening humanitarian situation suffered by it in Palestine."

Saudi condemnation of Jews ascending to the Temple Mount

Earlier, we reported that Saudi Arabia had issued a particularly strong condemnation following the ascension of hundreds of Jews to the Temple Mount during Rosh Hashanah. An official statement issued by the Saudi Foreign Ministry called it "an invasion of the Al-Aqsa Mosque by extremists under the protection of the Israeli occupation forces," a violation of conventions and "provoking the feelings of Muslims around the world."

In addition, the Saudi Foreign Ministry blamed Israel for the consequences of Jewish immigration to the Temple Mount and demanded that the international community act to end the "escalation of the Israeli occupation."

The Jordanian Foreign Ministry and the Arab parliament also condemned the Jews' ascension to the Temple Mount. The Jordanian statement called it an "invasion of extremists" and "provocations" that violated the status quo on the Temple Mount.
