The Red Line: After the holidays, the activity of the inspectors and the distribution of fines will begin | Israel Hayom

Highlights: The light rail concludes a relatively successful first month, during which tens of thousands of passengers used the new mode of transportation. NTA and Tevel intend to continue stationing stewards at stations until after Sukkot, when the inspectors will also begin to impose fines on those who do not attack their travel. The fine for failure to validate the red line is NIS 180. This is in contrast to buses where the fine for non-validation is Nis 100. The light rail was shut down for several hours, and only after long hours of shutdown did the train resume full operation along all the stations.

NTA and Tevel are concluding a month of operation of the Dankel - the light rail's red line. According to NTA and Tevel, this was a successful month in which passengers in Gush Dan were exposed to the light rail and came en masse to experience the new mode of transportation.

Tevel increased train reinforcement this month, bringing forward train schedules - 8 minutes on the overhead route and every 4 minutes on the underground. Tevel reinforced trains during 3 football matches and fans took advantage of the new way to reach Bloomfield Stadium en masse. However, it should be mentioned that about two weeks ago, the light rail was shut down for several hours, and only after long hours of shutdown, during which passengers were forced to look for alternative ways to get there, did the train resume full operation along all the stations of the line.

In addition, during the month, NTA operated hundreds of flight attendants during the month who assisted passengers in using the train. According to the decision of the Ministry of Transport and NTA, the flight attendants' activity will continue until after the Sukkot holiday. After the holidays, the inspectors' activities will begin, as will the distribution of fines (it is estimated that about 10% of the passengers traveled without validation).

As mentioned, after the holidays, Tevel's supervisors will begin to write reports, after only warning reports were issued last month and public information activities were conducted. The fine for failure to validate the red line is NIS 180. This is in contrast to buses where the fine for non-validation is NIS 100. Since it is not possible to validate inside the trains and since the underground stations have exit gates - anyone who does not attack at the above stations will not be able to leave the underground stations without paying the fine. The report contains a bar code through which only the gate at the underground stations will be opened.
