Jerusalem District sappers have completed the professional treatment of two dangerous and old shell duds that were found overnight in south Jerusalem. The roads blocked in the area were opened to traffic.

A short time ago, road blockades in southern Jerusalem were opened, which were closed early in the morning in order for Jerusalem District police saboteurs to deal with a pair of old dangerous shells found last night during work on the light rail route.

As of last night, police forces from Moriah Station worked together with Jerusalem District sappers to deal with the scene of unexploded old shells, neutralize the danger posed by them, and close their area to traffic.

In the early hours of the morning, the Jerusalem District sabotage teams and police officers deployed, blocking the streets near the passage of vehicles and civilians. And police sappers professionally handled two old 90mm shells that were located in a dud state and posed a danger.

The Jerusalem District's sabotage officer noted: "These are old unexploded weapons that are decades old, so the danger inherent in them is twofold. The treatment of duds was carried out by moving them to a safe space and controlled detonation. We remind the public, in cases of locating suspicious objects of various kinds, to stay away from the scene and remove curious people, immediately report to the police on 100 and leave the handling of that suspicious object to skilled Israel Police saboteurs."

Upon completion of the treatment, road closures in the area were opened and traffic gradually returned to normal.
