Highlights: Bijou Phillips, 43, an actress herself, cited "irreconcilable disputes" and demanded custody of the couple's nine-year-old daughter. Phillips has struggled with kidney disease all her life, and in 2017, the year Masterson was accused of rape, she underwent a transplant. She appeared in several films during her career, including Almost Famous, Bully and several horror films. Her father was musician John Phillips, leader of The Mamas & the Papas.

Bijou Phillips, 43, an actress herself, explained Danny Masterson's divorce request as "irreconcilable disputes" • It should be noted that she stood by him throughout the trial, and even accompanied him to the reading of the sentence in which he was sentenced to serve 30 years in prison

Bijou Phillips, wife of actor Danny Masterson, has sought a divorce from her husband about two weeks after a court ruled that the former "That '70s Show" star will be sentenced to at least 30 years in prison for the two rapes for which he was convicted.

Phillips, 43, an actress herself, cited "irreconcilable disputes" and demanded custody of the couple's nine-year-old daughter — though according to U.S. media reports she would allow Masterson to see the girl.

"Mrs. Phillips decided to divorce her husband during these difficult times. Her daughter remains her top priority," Phillips' lawyer, Peter Lauzon, told TMZ. "This period weighed unimaginably heavily on marriage and family. Mr. Masterson was always present for Mrs. Phillips during her most difficult times. Mrs. Phillips recognizes that Mr. Masterson is a great father to their daughter," the lawyer concluded.

It should be noted that Phillips stood by Masterson throughout his trial (and retrial), and even accompanied him to the verdict.
