Oktoberfest waitresses do backbreaking work during the fifth season. What is common for Munich residents is a great spectacle for Oktoberfest tourists.
Munich – The 188th Oktoberfest is in full swing. 100 rides and 40 marquees await millions of visitors from 16 September to 3 October. It certainly won't be boring at the world's largest folk festival. Even ordering beer is a spectacle at the Oktoberfest. Because Oktoberfest waitresses manage to light-footedly transport almost unbelievable quantities of beer mugs to the tables in the marquee.

Last year, 5.7 million guests came to the Oktoberfest. According to the Munich city portal, the Oktoberfest is particularly popular with travelers from the USA, Switzerland and Italy. British, Austrians, Australians and French are also among the top ten guests in Munich in the "fifth season".
Where "Ed" originally comes from is not clear from his profile on platform X (formerly Twitter). What is clear, however, is that the man was deeply impressed by the performance of a waitress during his visit to the Oktoberfest this year. "That has to be 15 kilograms and beer worth 140 euros. Crazy!" the user wrote enthusiastically, adding, "I'm not coming home!" To do this, he shared a video on the platform in which a waitress seemingly effortlessly carries about twelve mugs to a table.

The Oktoberfest waitresses do hard work. During the Oktoberfest, they don't have a day off and work up to 15 hours a day and often take over 20,000 steps. For this, the waiters are also handsomely rewarded: She earns "a high four-digit amount," revealed a waitress of the tz.de last year. A good salary for two weeks of stress, but the really fat years are apparently over at the Oktoberfest. The earnings are getting a little less every year, the waitress continues.

In addition to strength, the right technique is also crucial when carrying the beer jugs. For many of the Oktoberfest employees, the work has a great attraction simply because of the good atmosphere – regardless of the salary. "What I like is that here, right now in the Hofbräu, the whole world comes together and that everyone just wants to have fun," said another waitress recently in a ZDF documentary.
