In a video posted by Yedidia Stern, the principal is seen shouting at a number of students not to put tefillin on school grounds except in the library or in a closed room. One of the students, a new immigrant, replied to his principal: "I came to Israel to put on tefillin, what did we come in during the Roman period that I have to hide when I do mitzvot?"
The publication, which created a great storm on the Internet, did not spare Communications Minister Shlomo Krei, who wrote on Twitter: "I call on Education Minister Yoav Kisch to summon the principal to a hearing and make it clear to him that this is the Jewish state. In addition, to issue a directive to all school principals to remind those who have forgotten that tefillin is a precious mitzvah for which Jews have given their lives throughout the generations."

The minister added: "Moreover, even if such a manager has forgotten what it means to be Jewish, we are in a democratic country where there is freedom of religion for everyone. It is simply a shame that such a person is raising the future generation in the Jewish state. Well done to the students who answered him with his Jewish head held high."
