A 68-year-old man was killed Thursday following a fire that broke out in his apartment in Karmiel. Another man, aged 62, sustained moderate injuries.
Paramedics arrived at the scene, a four-story building, and were forced to pronounce one of the occupants dead with severe burns to his body. In addition, they provided medical treatment to another man who was staying in the apartment and was evacuated to the Galilee Medical Center in Nahariya following burns to his body and smoke inhalation.
MDA emergency medic Noam Levy said: "When we arrived at the scene, we saw a lot of commotion and smoke coming out of an apartment. We joined the firefighters who rescued a 68-year-old man, he had no pulse and no breathing and suffered severe burns to his body. We performed medical tests but his injury was critical and we had to pronounce him dead. Another man they rescued was fully conscious and suffered burns to his body and smoke inhalation. We gave him medical treatment and evacuated him in an MDA intensive care vehicle to the hospital in stable condition."
