After the Society for the Protection of Nature in Israel's trail marking team completed the marking of two new sections of the Israel Trail - Section 2 Hermon-Banias and Section 1 Banyas-Tel Hai, today (Thursday) another section of the trail was completed, and for the first time the longest trail in Israel will pass through the historic area of Zichron Yaakov Colony and Ramat Hanadiv Nature Park.

According to Itzik Ben Dov, trail marking coordinator at the Society for the Protection of Nature in Israel, trail hikers will enjoy passing through heritage and tourist sites in the colony, such as Yaron Park, Carmel Winery, HaMeyasdim Street, Ohel Yaakov Synagogue, First Aliyah Museum, Nili Museum - Beit Aharonson, Binyamin Pool, the Historical Cemetery, Shem Olam Park and more. In addition, the path will pass along the edge of the garden around Baron Rothschild's tomb at Ramat Hanadiv and will connect to the existing route.

Gali Cohen, Director of Audience and Marketing at Ramat Hanadiv, adds that the gardens, the movie, the picnic area and other services are open for travelers to enjoy free of charge. "Visitors will be able to enter, during the opening hours of the site, the nature park and memorial gardens that cover an area of 70 dunams and include different gardens with different scents: the Garden of Scents, the Rose Garden, the Falls Garden and more.

"At the heart of the gardens is the tomb where Baron Edmond de Rothschild, the 'well-known benefactor,' and his wife Adelaide are buried. I also recommend entering the Visitors Center, which was the first building in Israel to receive a green building standard. The grave plaza is closed on Shabbat and holidays, please plan accordingly," Cohen concluded.

Meanwhile, following the expansion of Neve Shalom, a trail marking team of the Society for the Protection of Nature in cooperation with the JNF diverted the Israel National Trail northward this week, and now it runs parallel to Nahal Nachshon and Ein Hila. From Ein Hila, the trail will ascend to Givat Cat and the observation point at Sha'ar Hagai, where hikers will find the metal plaque with the lyrics of Haim Hefer's song, "Bab El Wad", and from there it connects to the existing route.
