Israel won the Yom Kippur War. In the national reckoning, from a distance of 50 years, it can be said decisively that after countless operational and political mistakes, after we paid an enormous and painful price in blood, Israel succeeded in defeating its enemies in that war.

Since the government was established, the situation has been deteriorating. What began with "bad" legal reform, as Netanyahu put it, has turned into a struggle for the image of the State of Israel. The "draft law" that the coalition is about to pass in the upcoming session is going to destroy the ethos of the People's Army

It happened because of the wind. Because of the sense of social solidarity. Mutual responsibility, the Jewish concept that caused the Seder yeshiva boys – most of them armored soldiers – to leave prayer and join the tanks going up to the Golan Heights front. The sense of responsibility for the state that motivated the 100 members of Kibbutz Beit Hashita to go to their units because of a transistor call, to risk their lives for the idea of a Jewish state, thanks to which the kibbutz was established in the lands of the valley. They came out for the people of Israel: rightists, religious, ultra-Orthodox, leftists, members of the national and united kibbutz. Eleven members of the Method House fell in the war - an unimaginable price. The song "The wheat grows again" was written by Dorit Tzameret, a member of the kibbutz. A mutual guarantee that demanded the heaviest price that could be paid.

On the eve of Yom Kippur, 50 years later, the most important question now for the time of soul-searching is whether we have managed to sustain this spirit. Does the sense of solidarity still exist, at least for wartime? My biggest problem is that I don't have an answer. I don't know anymore. Just this week, a government minister, Dudi Amsalem, managed to compare Israel to South Africa. Like the progressive left in the United States, he adopted an anti-white theory. This time it is the wealthy Ashkenazim who will lose against the blacks. Ron Kaufman live-streamed the ultra-Orthodox for cancer, and Rabbi Levinstein of Ali was smuggled out of Tel Aviv after coming to teach Torah under security.

"It's on the margins, always has been, always will be," there are always government supporters explaining. "Panic" designed to harm the government. Howdy. I strongly oppose this government, but I still pray that this crisis is less severe than I see. The thing is, I'm not sure.

Two friends informed me that they were stopping fasting this year on Yom Kippur. Why? Because of the ultra-Orthodox, they claim, they are distancing themselves from Judaism. Anyone to do whatever they want, but the explanation hurt me. One of the largest high-tech investors I spoke with this week told me he was thinking about leaving the country. I have no idea which of them means what he said, but on the eve of Yom Kippur I am worried. Worried that we are falling apart. That there is a religious war here, sects, classes, and most of all, no one is in control.

The State of Israel, its flourishing, its military capabilities, the high-tech nation, advanced agriculture, medicine - everything is based on one thing: human capital. People fight about power, argue, but without the belief that there is something here that connects us to this place and to each other, there is no state. It cannot be ignored.

Since the government was established, we have been in a snowball, and it is only growing. What began with legal reform – "bad" as Netanyahu put it, "not important" enough in my opinion to tear the people apart – has turned into a struggle for the image of the State of Israel. The draft law that the coalition is about to pass in the upcoming session is going to destroy the ethos of the people's army. The backlash of reservists to the reform, who announced the cessation of volunteering, is dismantling the nature reserve of the few percent who are still doing reserve service.Delusional statements by government ministers against demonstrators, Ashkenazim, left-wing pilots and more have become incendiary material. Opposite them is a protest full of leaders and full of harsh words, but without the words compromise, unity government and agreements.

No comparison. Those who are responsible for processes in this country are only the elected government. Sir. There are not many fathers of failure. The thing is, "they're guilty" is the only excuse and consistent answer. Who will care who is to blame in a generation if we all fail.

I, too, have some soul-searching. Decisions I made as someone who was in the two governments in which I took part, the fact that we reached a government led by extremists, the formation of a Knesset without party representation for the Zionist right, without bridges. And if it's panic, I'm scared. Must reboot.

It requires courageous soul-searching from those who have the power to stop everything. Dismantle the government and remove the extreme elements from it. A Zionist emergency government or elections. Good signature finish.

No forgiveness

Amiram Ben Uliel is a despicable murderer. Whoever murdered a one-and-a-half-year-old baby has no forgiveness. The fact that Knesset members from the coalition are fighting for him, and Ben-Gvir's party calls him Tzadik, is a huge stain. Not right-wing, not Zionist and certainly not religious. The fact that the rest remain silent from political cowardice is more disturbing.

What's the claim? That the Shin Bet used pressure measures, that its confession (five times) was false, that the polygraph was wrong, and that the prepared details it discovered in the reconstruction were incorrect? The minority serving fought in the regular and reserve army against Palestinian, right-wing and left-wing terrorists. Fighting terrorist baby killers who seek to murder Jews.

There is no excuse for protecting a Jewish terrorist. In general, how is it possible to run a state when there are those in power who turn the Shin Bet they are entrusted with into someone who fabricates investigations and results? Why shouldn't all the Arab murderers, terrorists, most of whom are already in Israeli prisons, claim the same? If the Shin Bet is not believed, how can we carry out targeted killings, investigations, prosecutions? This madness of mind began with disregard for the concept of "statehood," moved on to attacks on state institutions, and now we are in the midst of an ongoing mishap.

Amiram Ben Uliel is a despicable murderer. The fact that coalition MKs call him righteous is a huge stain. Not right-wing, not Zionist and certainly not religious. The fact that the rest remain silent from political cowardice is more disturbing. There is no excuse for protecting a terrorist

Good corner: I recently described a trip to Greece with my friends from the army team. On Shabbat we sang Shalom Aleichem and then everyone stood and I made Kiddush. All around me are completely secular without kashrut or Shabbat. All by choice. Goodwill and friendship. No one thought there was a danger of religion. Don't accept that it's impossible otherwise. I met Ayelet Hashahar, founded in 1998 by Rabbi Shlomo Raanan, through one of these friends. His kibbutz wanted prayers on Yom Kippur, and the association sent volunteers and a Torah scroll. The same is true in many other kibbutzim. I have no idea if they messed with the partition there - I know they do good for many there. To me, that's enough.
