Following the meeting between Prime Minister Netanyahu and President Biden last night in New York, and Saudi Crown Prince bin Salman's statements on a normalization agreement with Israel, opposition Knesset members expressed concern about this and demanded that the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee be convened to discuss the agreement.
Knesset Member Sharon Nir of Yisrael Beiteinu signed a letter Thursday morning by opposition Knesset members of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee titled "Urgent discussion - on the security implications of the agreement being formulated with Saudi Arabia." The letter was sent to Committee Chairman MK Yuli Edelstein and Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana.

In addition to Sharon Nir, the letter was signed by MKs Gadi Eisenkot, Ram Ben-Barak, Merav Michaeli, Gideon Saar and Idan Roll.
Nir wrote: "A letter we sent to the chairman of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee requesting that an urgent discussion be convened to discuss the implications of the agreement with Saudi Arabia. The complex security reality requires us to take this agreement seriously. The idea of giving Saudi Arabia a civilian nuclear program and enabling uranium enrichment in the Middle East is something that should not be taken lightly."
