The seller of chickens for the pre-Kippur custom of atonement - illegal alien: A Palestinian was arrested tonight (between Saturday and Sunday) in the city of Beit Shemesh, while selling chickens for atonement.
In the early hours of the morning, a report was received about a suspicious person who had come to the ultra-Orthodox neighborhood of Beit Shemesh to sell crates containing chickens and roosters. Beit Shemesh police officers who were called located the suspect at the scene and began to clarify the circumstances of the case.

A quick check revealed that he was an illegal Palestinian resident of Nablus governorate in his 20s, and he was taken for interrogation. Police investigators were surprised to discover his knowledge of Jewish law when he sold a male rooster for men and a female chicken for women.
A search of his possessions revealed a large sum of money, which he allegedly received for the sale. It also turned out that this was the third time he had entered the State of Israel illegally, and only during the past month was he caught in the center of the country and interrogated about it.
At the end of his interrogation, the suspect will be brought before the court during the day for a hearing on the police's request to extend his detention.
