The Yesh Atid party officially announced the first elections for the party's leadership, 11 years after it was founded by MK Yair Lapid. According to the party's announcement, the Yesh Atid conference will be held this December, at the center of which primaries will be held for the party's leadership. Only those defined as members of the committee will be able to participate and run in the elections and subject to the party's bylaws.
The criteria required to submit candidacy according to the bylaws - Party members for at least three consecutive years, who have not been convicted of an offense involving disgrace and have not been tried for an offense involving disgrace. So far, only MK Ram Ben-Barak has said he intends to run against Lapid, Yesh Atid's founder and chairman for the past 12 years.
The Yesh Atid conference has about 750 members, including activists, MKs, and heads of the party's field staff. This will be the second conference of the Yesh Atid party after on January 4, 2022, the party held its first conference after a decade from its establishment, but no vote was held at the first conference because apart from party chairman Lapid, no other candidates were submitted.
