As a precautionary measure, the police posted a patrol car in front of the Oberding school on Monday. The sponsor day has been cancelled, individual students are staying at home.

Oberding – It is not every day that a police patrol of the Erding Inspectorate takes a stand in front of a primary and secondary school at the beginning of the school year. But on Monday in Oberding, this measure seemed justified, because on Friday of last week, children had found an ambiguous graffiti in a school toilet, which, together with the Monday date, created a suspicion of a possible crime. As a result, the school and police decided to take this precautionary measure (we reported). And fortunately, nothing actually happened.

"We wanted to be on the safe side and, above all, reassure the parents of our students," explained headmaster Johann Deschu when asked. The police had taken a look at the graffiti on Friday. "In two letters to parents, as we occasionally send them by e-mail, we not only explained the situation to the parents, but also left it up to them to decide whether they would send their children to school on Monday. In addition, the school board was informed about the incident."

In fact, some children stayed away from school, some parents were concerned about the security situation. The so-called sponsors' day planned for the bridge day was also cancelled. "A few parents actually spoke to us about the incidents and asked for details," said the two patrol officers, who had positioned themselves in front of the school building as a visible protective presence for the public. However, they could not report much, because the investigations into the incident are still ongoing.

Mayor Bernhard Mücke had also come to the school to get an idea of the situation and possibly talk to concerned citizens. "We didn't want to close the school completely," says Rector Deschu, "because that might have encouraged others to repeat such graffiti. On the contrary, as far as we could, we held normal classes on Monday. However, our teachers discussed and discussed the topic with the children in their classes." The school and police will now try to analyse the incident as accurately as possible, clarify the perpetrators and then inform the public.
