An upsurge in a context of attacks. Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin announced Monday that "twenty" anti-Semitic acts had been recorded in France in the 48 hours and the beginning of clashes between Hamas and Israel after an attack by the Palestinian movement on Saturday morning.

The acts range from "threatening remarks" against Jews and Israel to unfurling banners in support of Palestinians, the interior minister said Monday. Gérald Darmanin, who was speaking after a meeting with representatives of the Jewish community of France, added that there had been "ten people arrested" in the last 48 hours.

A meeting with leaders of the Jewish community

The minister met at 15 p.m. with the Chief Rabbi of France, Haim Korsia, the president of CRIF, Yonathan Arfi, and the president of the Central Consistory, Elie Korchia, to discuss the situation.

The Minister of the Interior asked Saturday the prefects of France to strengthen the security of Jewish community places, with the visible and static presence of law enforcement in front of places of worship, and the reinforcement of the municipal police and the military of Operation Sentinel. The Jewish community has been celebrating several holidays since the beginning of the Jewish New Year in mid-September.

Nearly "700 Pharos reports"

The minister, who held a meeting on Sunday morning with all his services, repeated that "there is no clear threat today that would affect our Jewish compatriots on the national territory." However, "we saw this weekend a dozen anti-Semitic acts, tags, telephone threats, people coming in front of places of worship for example," he said on Sunday, adding that there had been "a lot of arrests."

The minister also said that there had been "about 700 reports from Pharos", the platform dedicated to reporting violent or illegal content circulating on the Internet. "These reports to Pharos are all judicial investigations opened," he added.
