While the terrorist threat to France put the intelligence services on alert, the worst-case scenario occurred. The bloody attack took place on Friday morning at the Gambetta-Carnot high school, located in the heart of Arras. An assailant armed with a knife burst into the school shortly before 11 a.m. Shouting "Allahu akbar!", according to several witnesses, but not confirmed by police, Mohammed Mogouchkov, 20, a Caucasian with an S file, sowed death by stabbing Dominique Bernard, a 57-year-old French teacher.

A second teacher, a physical education and sports teacher, was also seriously injured with a knife when he tried to intervene. In his murderous fury, the Islamist, who may have been a former student of this high school, then rushed into the school before striking a technical officer several times. A video, which quickly circulated on social media, shows the assailant with his knife in the courtyard of the building.
