Nobel laureate Louise Glück, an American poet, has died at the age of 80. His death was confirmed Friday by his publisher at Farrar, Straus & Giroux, Jonathan Galassi, the Associated Press reported without giving further details.
In awarding him the prize for literature in 2020 — the first time an American poet had been honored since T.S. Eliot in 1948 — the Nobel Prize judges praised "his incomparable poetic voice which, with its austere beauty, makes individual existence universal."
