The largest organ of the human body is the skin. But it is also susceptible to diseases and malfunctions. The self-help group Auerberg now wants to do educational work on its "Skin Day".
Bernbeuren – Tomorrow, Saturday, everything in the Auerberghalle will revolve around the largest human organ in terms of area. Up to two square meters of skin span our body and not only protect us from all kinds of intruders. As a rule, the skin also provides reliable services to humans as a sensory organ and as a fat and water reservoir.

The skin is a vital part of our body, and yet countless people struggle with malfunctions and diseases every year. Psoriasis, also known as psoriasis, neurodermatitis or vitiligo, known as "white spot disease", make everyday life difficult for many people.
Self-help group Auerberg is the organizer
The Auerberg self-help group therefore invites all those seeking advice and interested parties to its second "Skin Day". Between 9 a.m. and 17 p.m. there is a lot on offer in the Auerberghalle on Saturday.
After the opening by Marion Socher and the greetings of Mayor Karl Schleich and District Administrator Andrea Jochner-Weiß, numerous lectures on the subject of skin will take place every 30 minutes. In addition, "16 to 17 exhibitors" as well as the umbrella organizations DPB (German Psoriasis Federation) and DNB (German Neurodermatitis Association) will be available to answer visitors' questions.
All news and stories can also be found on the Facebook page of the Schongauer Nachrichten.
Between 12 noon and 13 p.m., a short lunch break is also planned to catch your breath. "The economy is also open," said the founder of the support group, Marion Socher. According to the self-help group, the Bernbeuren kindergarten will supervise the event with a bake sale.
Corona increased skin problems
This year's Skin Day is already the second edition. The event took place for the first time in 2010. "It was just about time again," Socher remarks. Especially as a result of the Corona pandemic and the associated vaccination campaign, many people have increasingly developed skin problems. "Especially psoriasis and vitiligo," she adds.

The first edition was already well received, according to the founder of the self-help group. Experience has shown that "people always come to their topic," explains Socher with regard to the extensive lecture program.
"Hub between the professional care system and the self-help system"
The self-help group has been in existence since 2005 and has about 30 members, who meet every six to eight weeks in the Bernbeuren Pfarrstadel. The group sees itself as a "hub between the professional care system and the self-help system" and also regularly organizes group trips to the Dead Sea.
