A senior Israeli military official told The New York Times on Monday that Hamas may release about 50 abductees with dual citizenship, based on talks between the United States and Qatar, separate from a broader deal.

Earlier today, it was reported that the Biden administration had advised Israel to delay a ground incursion into Gaza in order to negotiate over the abductees. In addition, U.S. officials say the administration needs time to prepare for attacks coming from the region upon ground incursion from Iranian-backed groups. However, the US administration still supports a ground incursion to eradicate Hamas.
Two American citizens living in Chicago were released last Friday after being abducted by Hamas. The organization claimed that in response to Qatar's efforts, the al-Zadin al-Qassam Brigades released two American detainees for reasons deemed "humanitarian."

The abductees are Yehudit Raanan and her daughter Natalie, who came to Nahal Oz from Chicago to visit Yehudit's mother, who survived the massacre. The family has six other abductees, two missing, and two murdered.
According to a statement by Al-Qassam Brigades spokesman Abu Obeida, the operation was carried out "to prove to the American people and the world that the claims made by Biden and his fascist government are false and baseless." This is the language of the message.
