In the performance competition in the skilled trades, the best trainees of a year compete against each other. Six dedicated journeymen from the district cleaned up at chamber level.

District – They are among the best of the best: Six apprentices from the district of Miesbach have worthily represented their craft at the performance competition at chamber level. Together with 77 other apprentices, the young craftsmen were named the best journeymen in Upper Bavaria in the competition.

Best butcher's shop assistant comes from Holzkirchen

In the category of specialist salespeople in the food trade, Maurice Müller from Holzkirchen was the winner. The 21-year-old completed his apprenticeship at Edeka Wick in Taufkirchen. With his grade point average of 1.1, the butcher's shop assistant was the best in his year – and therefore did not have to submit another work sample to the chamber competition. "When I was invited to the chamber competition, it was a very pleasant surprise," he says.

In the journeyman's exam, he impressed with his skills behind the counter: laying cold cuts platters, preparing tartar rolls and preparing a rolled roast ready for cooking – these were his tasks. At the ceremony with the head of the State Chancellery, Florian Herrmann, there was a certificate and a 100-euro voucher for further training. "Dr. Herrmann's handshake was actually the greatest reward," says Müller.

Franz-Joseph Schreyer from Gmund is the winner in the carpentry trade

Upper Bavaria's best journeyman in the carpentry trade is Franz-Joseph Schreyer from Gmund. He was able to convince with his journeyman's piece – a desk made of smoked oak – and a pocket emptier for the cloakroom as a work sample at the chamber competition in Munich. As the best of the guild, he had already expected to do well in the chamber competition, says Schreyer. "But that's not what I was working towards."

The victory in the performance competition is not only an award for himself, but also for his training company: For the Heimgreiter carpentry workshop in Waakirchen, Schreyer is already the third apprentice to win the performance competition. "I have a really good training company, they were very happy with me."

Warngauerin awarded as best saddler

With Thomas Stadler from Reitrain, another award went to the Tegernsee region: Stadler completed his training at the Miller carpentry company in Rottach. The carpenter has already been invited to participate in the competition at the state level.

Leann Holzer from Warngau represented a lesser-known industry: The 19-year-old trained as a saddler at the Marstaller Werkstätten leather manufactory in Warngau. With her journeyman's piece, an ironing bag, she convinced the jury and immediately qualified for the state competition. The companion would never have thought that she would make it this far: "I was already very satisfied with my piece, but the fact that I made it further in the chamber competition was surprising."

Trainees in a wide range of industries honoured

The fact that craftsmanship is not just about carpentry and carpentry was shown by Mija Walter from Rottach-Egern. She completed her training at the Gruber Beauty Farm in Rottach-Egern and became the chamber winner in the field of beautician. In the field of electrical engineering, Sebastian Hitzler from Bayrischzell was awarded. He completed his apprenticeship at Elektro Busch in Hausham.

However, the chamber winners cannot rest on their laurels just yet: For the craftsmen, it is now on to the competition at state level. This is where the best journeymen in Bavaria are determined. Franz-Joseph Schreyer has already made it to the next round: With only one point gap, he already qualified for participation in the German Championships in November as vice state winner.
