The railway is improving the northern approach to the Brenner through the district of Ebersberg. A trough for Niclasreuth was confirmed by the railway for the western exit of the town. This visualization is outdated: the route divides the Elkofen golf course. In the visualisation (left), the train travels south between the greens towards the northern tunnel portal – the Hamberg wind turbine on the right. The railway is improving the northern approach to the Brenner through the district of Ebersberg and confirming what has become apparent: more tunnels near Grafing and Aßling.

District – The railway has made improvements to the route of the Brenner northern inlet through the district of Ebersberg. The course of the Limone selection route through a water protection area at the Elkofen golf course near Grafing was much criticised. Now it is clear: The "Salach Tunnel", starting in the south at Lorenzenberg, will be extended from 1.9 to 3.7 kilometres. As a result, the portal shifts to the north of the golf course, and the tracks run underground through the drinking water protection area.

Drinking water protection: Concerns from the water management office

Readers of the Ebersberger Zeitung should be familiar with this news. Back in March 2023, the editors had reported that it would come down to this solution. The concerns of the Rosenheim water management office about an above-ground route were too great. All rainwater, including all impurities, would have had to be drained out of the area in the future and permanently.

In a paper, the company argues with "significantly lower land consumption", a more favourable situation for the drinking water protection area and that the Elkofen golf course will not be affected. "In its final state," Deutsche Bahn adds to the latter argument, which indicates that there may well be burdens from tunnel construction.

(By the way: Everything from the region is now available in our regular Ebersberg newsletter.)

Deutsche Bahn also confirms: A trough for Niclasreuth

Another treat, which had been looming for a long time, was confirmed by the railway for Niclasreuth. The western exit of the town will remain more or less on the existing route. The route runs in a deep trough at the point west of the Asslingen district. This will be covered over a length of about 100 meters - at the point where the road runs and the route between the village and the musical instrument maker "Ziach Kaiser" is to run. The newly revised route of Assling's southern neighbour Ostermünchen (Rosenheim district) is hitting hard: Contrary to the vote of the municipal council, the railway wants to relocate the station there.
