Faster and more accurate projects thanks to the introduction of a Digital Twin of cities and small municipalities to be wired. Open Fiber has adopted a new system for the design of the fiber optic network with RealCity, a software platform thanks to which it is possible to navigate a three-dimensional and real model of the territory, carrying out remote measurements and surveys, making the design phase faster, more efficient and sustainable. "Eliminating the digital divide in our country is a social mission for Open Fiber, a challenge to be completed by deploying all the resources available," explains Giuseppe Gola, CEO of Open Fiber. "In this sense, the implementation of new technologies is an essential ally thanks to which we will be able to speed up processes, with the aim of guaranteeing everyone connectivity adequate to the challenges of today and the future". In detail, thanks to the Real City platform it will be possible to: view georeferenced data and have a real representation of the territory and the network by combining the traditional street view, limited to photographic visualization of the territory only, with a measurable three-dimensional model of the latter; visualize the paths and nodal elements of the network in a 3D environment of the territory; perform accurate measurements (e.g. distances between wells, recovery surface, etc.) for remote testing and accounting; monitor the quality of the work and carry out tests even remotely; exchange georeferenced information between the RealCity 3D environment and the GIS (Geographical Information System) system that contains the database of network elements (infrastructures, cables, fibers, equipment). The system will thus make it possible to carry out surveys useful for the construction of the network remotely: technicians will no longer have to physically go to the area but will be able to carry out the necessary measurements and collect information from their office. This translates into significant savings in resources and greater speed in execution, ensuring greater efficiency and speed. In addition, all the travel on the territory that will be avoided thanks to the implementation of this system will make the entire project even more sustainable. Finally, this model will make it possible to monitor the phases of the construction of the network, following the work of the companies involved in the construction phase with greater agility and precision.
