Despite the heated debate over "tip inflation," 60% of Americans say they quit more often than before, thanks to the rise of digital payment technology, LendingTree discovered earlier this year.
But a new poll from USA Today Blueprint and OnePoll reveals that some states are more generous than others when it comes to tipping.
The survey asked 5,000 Americans, 100 people per state, about their leaving-behavior in situations such as restaurants, food delivery, personal care and services provided.
California residents tend to tip the most, with an average percentage of 22.69%. It is closely followed by Missouri, where its inhabitants add 22.05% to their tally. In total, the average tip percentage in the United States is 17.94%.
