After the shooting death of a three-month-old baby on Wednesday, October 25 in Milly-la-Forêt (Essonne), his mother was placed in police custody on the charge of murder "of a minor under fifteen years old in a hospital", informs Le Figaro the prosecutor's office of Evry. The mother was found with a gunshot wound a few hours after the incident and was hospitalized.
The police custody of the two individuals, including that of the victim's father, was lifted on Friday after being extended on Thursday evening, said the Public Prosecutor, Grégoire Dulin. The Evry prosecutor's office opened a judicial investigation on Friday on the "charge of murder of a minor under the age of fifteen" and "requested that a warrant be issued for the arrest of the infant's mother for the purpose of indictment," the prosecutor's office said.
An unstable state of health
The 3-month-old girl had been brought on Wednesday at 21:40 p.m. by her father to the hospital center of Fontainebleau (Seine-et-Marne), and had not been able to be resuscitated by the nursing staff. While the father and another individual were in police custody on the night of the incident, the mother, who was also injured, was unable to testify. She was finally able to be heard by the investigators on Thursday during a very brief hearing where, "in the presence of her lawyer, she exercised her right to silence," the prosecutor's office said. Due to an unstable state of health, the mother will be taken care of and will receive psychiatric care, the public prosecutor said.
The case is now in the hands of the investigating judge who will be "in charge of determining precisely the circumstances of the commission of these facts", informs Grégoire Dulin.
