Rating agency Fitch has maintained France's debt rating at AA-, six months after downgrading it, as well as the outlook, which is considered stable, according to a statement on Friday.

While France can boast of having "a large, rich and diversified economy, strong and effective institutions and macro-financial stability (...) Its public finances, and in particular its high level of debt, are a weak point in its rating," the agency noted.
