The Wolfratshausen neighbourhood aid "Citizens for Citizens" shows pictures of Klaus Rühling. The photos can be seen in the old pump house on the western bank of the Loisach.

Wolfratshausen – Whether photos of the river festival on the banks of the Loisach, the Weidach maypole, India or the Grand Canyon: In his exhibition "Dahoam und anderswo" Klaus Rühling spans a wide range. It was no coincidence that the vernissage took place in the "Pumpenhaus" on the banks of the Loisach. The rooms are used by the "Citizens for Citizens" neighbourhood help (BfB). Its director, Eva-Maria Rühling, did not have to persuade her husband to hold the exhibition for long. "We currently have 1350 members, of whom about 240 are volunteers," explained the BfB chairwoman. Some of them are also artistic. Reason enough for the neighbourhood help to initiate a series of exhibitions last July.

Daniela Satzinger made a start with her "Paper Stories" and was pleased about the lively interest. Now follow the recordings by Klaus Rühling. "I had previously received suggestions from the Wolfratshausen photo club," said the 73-year-old. However, his enthusiasm for his hobby of photography had already awakened at the age of 15. At that time, he took pictures with a simple Agfa camera. Later, the Göttingen native switched to a "Revue Flex" and black-and-white photographs.

With the beginning of his retirement in 2015, Rühling found more time for photography and for traveling around the world. Of course, he "didn't have all the equipment with him on all excursions". Often, the shots taken with a Canon digital camera were enough to capture special moments.

The Wolfratshausen River Festival offered numerous motifs

While native animal species such as the goosander can be seen in the entrance area of the pump house, the viewer along the staircase is particularly struck by the shots of the river festival at the old raft landing this year. On the upper floor, the photo tour then leads from the Lofoten Islands in Norway via Singapore and India to American canyon landscapes. If you particularly like the photo motifs, you can buy them. "The proceeds will go entirely to the neighbourhood help," promised wife and BfB chairman Rühling. (ph)

Info: Until the end of the year, the exhibition "Dahoam und anderswo" can be seen every Monday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and on Tuesdays from 14 p.m. to 17 p.m. or by appointment.
