Dog Surak has been sitting alone with four cats in his former home for three weeks. The reason: its owner is in hospice and will die soon. Who can help Surak?

Hagen - The Animal Welfare Association Hagen and Surroundings e.V. (NRW) is currently taking care of the placement of a Kangal male. Dog Surak is currently sitting alone in a house with four cats – and has been for three weeks. Unfortunately, the owner can no longer take care of his animals. The reason for this is that he is in a hospice and will die soon. "It's very sad for everyone," explains Birgit Ganskow, first chairwoman of the Hagen Animal Welfare Association, when asked by wa.de. The animal rights activists would like to spare the five-year-old male dog a stay in the shelter. Therefore, the association is now urgently looking for new owners for the Kangal and the four cats.

"Of course, it's not a good state of affairs that Surak and the cats are alone in the house," Ganskow said. The animal rights activist explains that the neighbors are currently taking care of the male dog and the cats. "However, of course, this is neither half nor whole," it says. The cats are outdoor cats and have the opportunity to go in and out. However, Surak, also affectionately known as Suri, is more difficult to care for.

"No one from the owner's family wants the dog," Ganskow explains. And the animal rights activists would like to fulfill one last wish of the man living in the hospice. "We would love to be able to tell his owner that we will find a home for Surak. It would certainly calm him down a lot," says the animal rights activist.

Surak is looking for a new home: "A great treasure that wants to please its human"

The first chairwoman describes the Kangal as a great, loving dog. "He is simply a great treasure who wants to please his human," says Ganskow. Surak gets along with cats and children and is therefore very suitable for families. In addition, the male dog can stay alone for hours and also likes to ride in the car. "A dream dog who is urgently looking for his dream home," explains the animal rights activist.

However, due to its size, Surak should not be kept in a small apartment. Because: Kangals need enough space. Potential owners should also not have small children.

Because he was the only puppy in his litter with a genetic defect, Boomer was supposed to die. But he was saved. Now he is waiting for a new home at the shelter. Mixed breed Nico was also rescued by animal rights activists from a killing station in Romania. So far, however, he has been looking in vain for a new home.
