A woman in Bayreuth attacked firefighters with an axe and firearm during a firefight. The police had to shoot to overpower.
Bayreuth - A fire brigade operation in Bayreuth's Saas on Friday afternoon ended in a dangerous confrontation. A 52-year-old resident threatened the emergency services with a firearm and an axe, which required police intervention.
The fire brigade was called shortly before 14 p.m. to a small fire in a garden on Saaser Berg, as the Upper Franconia police headquarters announced on Friday (27 October). However, while trying to extinguish the flames, they were threatened by the occupant of the house with the aforementioned weapons and had to retreat.

Woman threatens fire brigade with axe – police have to shoot at her
The situation escalated further when the woman also threatened the police officers who were summoned. To subdue the woman, the police had to use their service weapon and shoot at her. An emergency doctor immediately provided medical care to the 52-year-old. According to the doctor, there is no danger to her life. Fortunately, there were no other casualties.
During the entire operation, which lasted until about 15:45 p.m., the Saaser Berg remained closed. The exact circumstances of the incident are still unclear and are currently being investigated by the authorities.
