Evictions are continuing, in accordance with the recommendations of the Minister of the Interior. While Gérald Darmanin has continued to call for "systematic firmness" against "delinquents responsible for urban violence" in recent months, two new rental evictions have recently taken place, Le Figaro learned from a source close to the case on Friday 27 October.

Residents of the commune of Saint-Denis, two individuals were evicted from their social housing on 19 and 25 October, after being accused of concealment of property resulting from a burglary in a residential premises or a warehouse, during urban violence, it has been learned.

In the department, another eviction was carried out on 21 July: that of an inhabitant of Noisy-le-Grand. This individual had been charged with damage or deterioration of another's property, aggravated by at least two circumstances: violence against a national police officer and "participation in a group formed with a view to preparing violence against persons or destruction or damage to property", it read.

700 people held in police custody in Seine-Saint-Denis

A total of 700 people were taken into custody in Seine-Saint-Denis in response to the riots that followed Nahel's death in late June and early July. Of these, nearly 230 people have been detained, including 98 minors, and 141 people have already been tried in court. Other cases could soon lead to additional rental evictions. For the authorities, "the objective is to see them succeed during the winter truce with a view to proceeding with the evictions during the spring of 2024," we are told.

In Île-de-France, the authorities communicate little on the subject of rental evictions in connection with the riots. Only the prefecture of Val d'Oise had indicated, at the end of September, that it had evicted four social housing units, one at the beginning of August, the others the following month. Some of the deportees had participated in the urban violence, others had not.
