Wearing a black velvet jacket over a white shirt, and an imposing stature, Aurélien P. takes the stand at the criminal court in Créteil (Val-de-Marne) where he is on trial for "violence by a person holding public authority". This is the second time in five years that the 41-year-old prison guard has been tried for similar offences. It has been six months since the salary of this civil servant, described as a "pillar" by one of his superiors, has not been paid. The reason: the opening of an investigation after a complaint of violence by a man detained in the semi-liberty unit (QSL) of Villejuif, attached to the Fresnes penitentiary center.
