It was the actor Maurice Benard, with whom he was playing, who shared the sad news on his Instagram account. "Tyler passed away this morning from a heart attack in his San Diego apartment. Tyler was a truly talented individual who lit up the screen in every scene he played and enjoyed bringing joy to his loyal fans through his acting," he wrote. This information was confirmed on Tuesday, October 31 by his agent to CNN.
"Tyler was a sweet soul and a wonderful friend to everyone who knew him," he added, before recalling his friend's fight for "better mental health and addiction treatment." Indeed, Tyler Christopher "openly spoke about his struggle with bipolar depression and alcohol" during his lifetime. "We are beyond devastated by the loss of our dear friend and pray for his children and father," Benard concluded.
An Emmy Award
Tyler Christopher had appeared in many series such as Charmed, JAG, CSI, and The Chameleon. Between 1996 and 2016, he played the character of Nikolas Cassadine in Central Hospital, one of the longest-running soap operas on American television. In 2016, he received an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor for this role. Between 2001 and 2009, he was also part of the cast of Days of Our Lives. This earned him another Emmy nomination.
In his private life, Tyler Christopher was also known to celebrity press fans for being married to Eva Longoria in the early 2000s. The union lasted two years, before the Desperate Housewives actress met French basketball player Tony Parker.
